How about Mocha Linux?

Posted by Unknown
What the Fu ... duntu!? I think maybe the baristas at the Waves Coffee House on West Broadway, at Spruce, are psychic. How else to explain this:

fuduntu

Fuduntu was a cool, Fedora-based Linux distro, which wrapped up it's development earlier this year. Here's one of my two posts about it's sudden, sad, demise. The hope was that the heart of Fuduntu would beat in the new Cloverleaf project, made up of a small group of former Fuduntu developers -- a really small group. In fact, the Cloverleaf effort has realistically scaled back from producing a full Linux distribution based on openSUSE, and refocused on contributing to the openSUSE project. It sounds like all the goodness they hoped to put in Cloverleaf, will, in the fullness of time, enrich openSUSE.

Mocha Genesis Evangelion

adam-embryo
Japanese-Canadian Barista's "generic" mocha, with no "conscious" attempt at "latte art," depicts the Adam embryo from the anime Neon Genesis Evangelion! What else could it be? The design obviously comes from the deep, shared zeitgeist of the  Japanese culture. Evangelion is the national anthem, constitution, and Goethe, of Japan, all rolled into one. Sure it is. August 16th dark mocha

Ivy on the wiresHomeowners tell me ivy's a weed, nearly impossible to eradicate once it gains a foothold. I believe it; the stuff leaves scars when you pry it off a wall -- but it sure is purdy! Having thought high heel pumps on overhead wires was worth posting, I couldn't ignore the scene just steps East of the pumps. Don't know how recently the ivy started up onto the power line, but I'm interested to see how it grows, and how long before  someone takes it down. And, apropos of nothing, a picture of the mocha I drank while blogging this. Click on the images to enlarge them.

Don't forget the llama loaf, I mean, banana loaf

[caption id="attachment_3825" align="alignright" width="150"]Today's mocha Dark mocha -- pairs well with llama. Click to enlarge.[/caption]

When I go to the Waves coffee place at Broadway and Spruce, I always get the same thing: Large, extra-hot, dark mocha, with a slice of banana loaf. Today a particular Japanese counter person took my order -- which the entire staff knows, she repeated it back as "llama loaf" -- Has she always done that? Ahhh! that is sooo cute, or maybe I should say sooo kawaii. How many times can I afford to go back for another slice, and how many times can I get her to confirm the order before she gets suspicious?

So cute I could hardly bear to drink it, but I did

June 18th Waves mocha

Waves barista Kiran has outdone herself! Usually, when I post a photo of a coffee I've had at Waves coffee, on West Broadway and Spruce, I tag it as a secondary item at the end of some other post, but today Kiran's dark mocha creation takes first place.

My June 4 dark mochaOverheard at the Waves coffee shop at West Broadway and Spruce. A flock alighted, and sat as a group. One of them looked up to note how they were ignoring each other, and quietly thumbing their phones. I enjoyed a large, extra-hot, dark mocha, this one topped with the challenging steamed milk design known as "birth of a nebulae."
