A little over one hour until the puck drops in the first round NHL playoff series between the Vancouver Canucks and the visiting San Jose Sharks, at Rogers Arena in downtown Vancouver, B.C. Canada

On Saturday, the Montreal Canadiens (Can-uh-d'yens) beat the Toronto Maple Leafs quite convincingly; reportedly they wanted to send a message. Had Toronto won, they would have clinched a play-off spot; as it is, their fate seems to depend on other teams now. But, the possibility still exists that Montreal and Toronto might actually meet in the NHL Stanley Cup play-offs, for the first time since 1979. Woo-hoo!

As a 30-year resident of Vancouver, I care about the Vancouver Canucks, but, I grew up in Saskatchewan, rooting for Montreal. To me the Habs are hockey, and always will be.
