Broadway Locks has been in business for a very long time, which is good; we like our locksmiths to last as long as the locks they sell. Behind their store front, in the alley, they have a ground-level, covered, loading/parking area, where they've stuck a few things, including some of their old store signs.
The most interesting one, for me, is laying on the concrete floor of one of the parking spots; cars, and trucks will have been driving over it for who knows how long; which says something about how durable these old hand-painted signs could be. This sign has aged beautifully from a design point of view; the strokes used to construct each letter are very visible now -- I would've wanted this sort of imagery for graphic design back when I did that sort of thing. So, after the turn, I have photos of a bunch of the letters. I trust, someday, someone will find them useful. Click the images to enlarge them.

Another thing which caught my attention, was a big ol' safe. I don't know if it's a relic, or if the still use it -- I could ask them, but I think we can all see how that could go.
