This is old news: a map of private security cameras in downtown Vancouver. The VPSN Surveillance Map was compiled in 2009 by the Vancouver Public Space Network and Simon Fraser University students. The map shows over 2000 privately-operated security cameras, visible, throughout the downtown business district, but, for the most part, unmarked as to ownership.
The VPSN page has the full map for download in both jpg, and pdf format. The page also details some of the collection methodology, and impressive amount of detail backing up the simple looking map, which is described as "preliminary." The only follow-up seems to have been in February 2010, when the VPSN surveyed 900 to 1000 new cameras, added for Olympic security. These cameras were not added to the map.
