Bet I've ridden by this lattice topped fence at least 2000 times in the past nine years. Yet I have no recollection what it looked like last week. Scary when you think about how little you think about some things.
I did notice this today. I guess it's some variety of ivy, a clinging vine, a very handsome pest. It's quite impervious to harm but the same can't be said for anything that ivy touches; that's something I have noticed over the years. When you take ivy off a wall you have to rip it off, and it leaves a scar.
This ivy is past clinging. It's in "boa constrictor" mode. You can see in the top photo that it's choking the life out of part of the wooden lattice; you can clearly see it being twisted out of shape. Fortunately not all wood vines are quite so clingy. Click the images to enlarge them.
