Early last summer one particular apartment building in Fairview -- a three-storey job from the 1960s -- threw up a surprisingly ugly home-made enclosure around their dumpster and recycling bins, which I called Fortress dumpster.
It was clearly a reaction to illegal dumping -- an over reaction I'd say, in so far as they also hid their recycling blue bins.
Well I see the snotty-green barrier to binning has disappeared -- as suddenly as it appeared in the first place. Maybe neighbours' complaints led to the eyesore being dismantled, or perhaps the building manager is working on "Fortress Mark II." November 12 update: A few days I spoke to the building manager -- the new building manager. The building has just recently been purchased by new owners. Lots of renovations planned inside. On the outside, the weird green enclosure was the first thing to go.
