Here are a few hand-painted signs from different parts of the Fairview neighbourhood. Sign painting is pretty much a thing of the past; most signage is run out of a computer-driven plotter/vinyl-cutter. Older hand-painted signs had character, and style -- whether you wanted it or not. This sign interests me because it's nearly professional; very rough in places with iffy letter-spacing, but oodles of eye-appeal. Maybe an amateur, or an elderly sign painter.

I'm amazed how the paint has cracked along the grain of the wood; first time I've seen that.

This sign particularly, I think, gives away it's age by it's choice of words -- "Unauthorized," and "impounded" together -- That's a lot of syllables to swallow!
